IEDR Phase 2 Use Case Prioritization Assessment Survey

Purpose 

Thank you for your participation in the IEDR Phase 2 Use Case Prioritization Assessment Survey. 

Our goal is to gather input from a broad range of key IEDR stakeholders, potential users, and subject-matter experts to inform IEDR Phase 2 use case prioritization and data requirements. The results of this survey will enable us to better understand use case impact and feasibility considerations. Key insights will then be incorporated into future plans for the IEDR, including the IEDR Phase 2 Proposal to the NY Public Service Commission. 

For context, IEDR’s Phase 1 goals include the development of both an Initial Public Version (IPV) and a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for the IEDR. The IPV will include 3 to 5 use cases, and the MVP will expand coverage to 10+ use cases. More specifically, IPV goals include creating a one stop shop for all hosting capacity map data to accelerate DER siting and creating a consolidated, up to date database of customer rate and tariff information in a machine-readable format. The MVP will likely build off those DER Siting user stories, provide foundational surface data required to accelerate building electrification, aggregate energy consumption data at the community or building level, and create streamlined customer data-sharing consent processes across utilities (pending finalization by Development Team). Phase 2 use cases will further expand on existing Phase 1 functionality like with hosting capacity and rate and tariff information and will also include net new use cases that have not been developed in any capacity in Phase 1 like improving customer data access for energy efficiency programs.

The IEDR is a public platform where users (for appropriate purposes and with effective protections) will be able to benefit from easier access to a variety of energy data including system data, grid data, energy usage data, rates and tariffs, and customer information (with prior consent). End users and stakeholders will be able to leverage data and data products they need to take actions at a speed and scale that meets NY’s climate commitments.

All use cases currently in consideration for Phase 2 of the IEDR are included in this survey. There are separate sections for each use case that contain questions regarding importance, impact and feasibility. Please provide input on as many use cases as desired. We understand that some participants will have a greater background and interest in a subset of use cases listed and may wish to provide feedback on only those use cases. 

This survey is anticipated to take up to 15-25 minutes, depending on stakeholder groups selected below. The survey will be open for three weeks from 12/7/22 to 12/28/22. Please submit your final survey responses by end of day 12/28/22.

Demographic Information

Responses for name and organization will be used strictly within the IEDR Program. All responses will be aggregated and obfuscated for any public facing description of results or external stakeholder materials.
