MBA Case Competition Official Rules
No purchase necessary to enter or win.

The FY2025 MBA Case Competition (the “Competition”) is sponsored by Deloitte Consulting LLP (“Deloitte Consulting" or “Sponsor”). Competition participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and the judges, which are binding and final on matters relating to this Competition.PARTNERS, PRINCIPALS, AND EMPLOYEES OF SPONSOR AND ITS AFFILIATES AND FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE. The Competition is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. Void where prohibited by law.

ELIGIBILITY
The Competition is open only to MBA students who are:


·Enrolled in a full-time MBA program at one of the universities located in the United States invited by Sponsor to participate and must be a first-year MBA student or first-year MBA equivalent if in a dual degree or part-time program;
·Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
·Legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia; and
·Age 18 or older (if the age of majority in their jurisdiction is different than 18, they must be at least 18 and of the age of majority in their jurisdiction).


For the purpose of these Official Rules, a participating individual and a participating team will each be referred to as a “participant.”

COMPETITION OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Competition is to examine business cases, consisting of a business challenge and present solutions that address the business implications of each case.

LOCAL CASE COMPETITION
The first phase (“local case competition”) of the Competition is conducted at universities located in the United States invited by Sponsor to participate in the Competition. The local case competition is managed and executed independently by a designated Sponsor team at each university with assistance from a representative of the university’s MBA program, which could include the university’s career services office and/or the university’s MBA program’s professional club, that is not participating in the local case competition (“MBA program’s designated representative(s)”).

Local Case Competition Logistics and Requirements
All local case competitions will take place between the dates of October 3rd, 2024 and November 17th, 2024. The specific logistics of each local case competition will vary at each invited university.

·Each Sponsor team will send an email (“instruction email”) to their respective university MBA program that clearly communicates how eligible participants can sign up to compete in their respective local case competition, the date and time eligible participants can begin to sign up for the local case competition, the deadline date to sign-up, information about the date / time / location of the local case competition, and an explanation of the logistics specific to that university.
·All eligible participants of the local case competition must be in teams of four (4) (“local participants”).
·The local case competition will be conducted in two rounds,
oRound One:All local participants will develop a presentation based on the case and guidance provided by the Sponsor team and submit it via email as directed in the instruction email. The Sponsor team will evaluate all the submissions and select submissions for Round Two, in their sole discretion, based on the judging criteria found in the“Judging”section below.
oRound Two:All local participants whose cases have been selected during Round One will present their case presentations to Sponsor practitioners (“local case competition judges”); in some cases, faculty from their university (e.g., professors and visiting lecturers) may also serve as local case competition judges. All Round Two presentations will be evaluated by the local case competition judges, in their sole discretion, on the judging criteria found in the “Judging” section below.
·At the end of Round Two, one (1) Selected Team (as defined below) from each invited university will be chosen by the local case competition judges as the winner of the local case competition based on the judging criteria found in the “Judging” section below and move on to the national round of the Competition and win a prize. See “Prizes” section below for more details.

Each eligible individual must agree to these Official Rules no later than 12:00 a.m. Central Time (“CT”) the week before a participant’s local case competition begins to confirm participation in the Competition. Failure to submit agreement by this time will result in disqualification from the Competition.

Local Case Competition External Assistance
Each local participant is expected to use only publicly available information sources (public search engines and information aggregators, news sources, and publicly available financial information) in connection with the local case competition. Outside assistance in the form of faculty guidance, Deloitte Consulting advice, or non-team members will not be allowed.

Local Case Competition Winner Notification
A single local participant from each university will be confirmed the winner (“Selected Teams”) of their university’s local case competition. The Selected Teams will be notified between the dates of October 3rd, 2024 and November 17th, 2024. The Selected Teams will advance to the National Case Competition and be awarded a prize (see “Prizes” section below for more details).

NATIONAL CASE COMPETITION (“NCC”)
The second phase of the Competition is conducted at Deloitte University in Westlake, TX (or at an alternate location at Sponsor’s sole discretion) the weekend of Thursday, December 12, 2024 to Sunday, December 15, 2024. If a member of the Selected Team cannot attend NCC, the Sponsor must be notified in advance. A Selected Team may be disqualified at Sponsor’ sole discretion if one or more members of such Selected Team are not present for all three (3) Rounds (as defined in the “Judging” section below) unless prior notification of such non-participation has been provided to the Sponsor and approved by the Sponsor, in its sole discretion.

NCC Logistics and Requirements
·Each Selected Team is required to ‘check in’ at Deloitte University no later than 10:00 p.m. CT, Thursday, December 12, 2024, though it is highly encouraged to attend the networking event earlier that evening.
·The Selected Teams will be allowed to work on their presentation beginning the morning of Friday, December 13, 2024. Selected Teams will be required to submit electronic copies of their presentations using their school’s ShareFile site or a designated email address to be provided at a later date, no later than 7:30 p.m. CT, Friday, December 13, 2024.
·Once the presentation is submitted it cannot be edited or altered thereafter.
·The NCC will consist of three (3) different rounds (the “Round(s)”) of presentations to take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024. All Selected Teams are guaranteed to present to the NCC Judges (as defined in the “Judging” section below) in at least two (2) Rounds. Scores in each of the rounds will be determined by the NCC Judges based on the criteria as defined in the “Judging” section below.
·All Selected Teams will present in Round 1 to the NCC Judges. After the NCC Judges’ scores from all Selected Teams are consolidated, the Sponsor will rank the Selected Teams and segment them into top, middle and bottom performing quads. Based on this segmented ranking, at least one team from each segment will be placed into one of four (4) groups (hereinafter referred to as a “Group” or “Groups”) for Round 2. Each Group in Round 2 will have at least one (1) Selected Team from the top, middle and bottom performing segments. In Round 2, there will be a total of four (4) Groups, Selected Teams in each Group will compete against other Selected Teams in their Group, and one (1) Selected Team in each Group will advance to Round 3 (“The Finals”), as determined by the NCC Judges in their sole discretion based on the criteria found in the “Judging” section below. In The Finals, the four (4) remaining Selected Teams will present to the entire panel of NCC Judges.
·Selected Teams presenting in The Finals are not permitted to view presentations from other Selected Teams prior to their presentation. The NCC Judges will award each of the four (4) final Selected Teams, in their sole discretion, with first, second, third or fourth place prizes based solely on this final presentation, according to the judging criteria as defined in the “Judging” section below.
·All presentations must be in Microsoft PowerPoint and/or Adobe PDF format; no other aids or additional materials are allowed, and no technology support or hardware is provided for any other formats. It is the sole responsibility of the Selected Teams to be prepared with their presentation for NCC. The Sponsor will be responsible for providing platform support and coordination. All Selected Teams will have the same amount of time for their presentation (TBA) and following each presentation will be a Q&A with the NCC Judges.
·Late arrival to the kick-off event and/or participant’s assigned presentation time slots may result in disqualification of such Selected Team at Sponsor’s sole discretion. All team members approved by the Sponsor for NCC must be present to deliver their presentations. Only Selected Teams with all approved team members in attendance for all three (3) Rounds will be allowed to compete in NCC. Any exception to this rule is at the sole discretion of the Sponsor.

NCC External Assistance
Each Selected Team is expected to use only publicly available information sources (public search engines and information aggregators, news sources, and publicly available financial information) in connection with the Competition. Outside assistance in the form of faculty guidance, Deloitte Consulting advice outside of allowed training classes, or non-team members will not be allowed.

NCC Winner Notification
Winners will be notified during a brief awards ceremony on Saturday, December 14, 2024 following all The Finals presentations. The decisions of the Sponsor and NCC Judges is final and binding on all matters.

JUDGING
Each of the local participants and Selected Team entries and presentations, where applicable, will be evaluated by the local case competition judges or NCC Judges (as applicable), in their sole discretion, on the same four (4) high-level criteria (as described below) at each Round of the Competition.
·Logical structuring of overall recommendations
·Analytical rigor
·Risk assessment and constraints
·Presentation style and delivery

For NCC, each Selected Team’s presentation will be evaluated and awarded points by a panel of qualified judges, which will include Deloitte Consulting LLP practitioners and representatives from the organization on which the case is based (the “NCCJudges”), in their sole discretion on the criteria listed above.

PRIZES
Local case competition prizes (per university):

·One (1) First Place prize: $200 per team member and an all-expenses paid trip for the winning team to Deloitte University in Westlake, TX (or at an alternate location at Sponsor’s sole discretion) the weekend of Thursday, December 12, 2024 to Sunday, December 15, 2024 (Approximate Retail Value (“APR”) is $2,500).

·One (1) Second Place prize: $150 per team member.

·One (1) Third Place prize: $100 per team member.

Prizes will be determined by the designated Sponsor team at each university and will be issued in the form of branded Deloitte item(s) of equal value issued by Sponsor.

NCC prizes:
·One (1) First Place Award: US $20,000
·One (1) Second Place Award: US $10,000
·One (1) Third Place Award: US $6,000
·One (1) Fourth Place Award: US $3,000

Participation in the Competition does not imply or guarantee that employment opportunities for participants will be offered.

It will be each Selected Team’s responsibility to divide the NCC prizes among all team members. The Sponsor will distribute the prizes through its accounting system upon execution of required forms by each participant on the winning teams. Prizes will be distributed no later than six (6) weeks following the completion of the Competition. Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Sponsor. Winner may not substitute, assign or transfer prize, but Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute prize of comparable or greater value. Each individual is solely responsible for any and all federal, state and local taxes (including any income and withholding taxes) that may be imposed upon the prize money paid to him or her.Please be aware that federal/IRS regulations will require additional information from any international student that wins prize money in the Competition. In some cases, an international student is not eligible to receive a monetary prize (dependent on visa type). If your team has any international team members, please take steps to ensure that money can be transferred appropriately to each member.

A potential winner will be disqualified if Sponsor determines, in its sole discretion that awarding a prize to such potential winner may violate professional standards to which Sponsor or its affiliates are subject. A potential winner must notify the Sponsor if accepting a prize would violate their employer’s policies.

DATA COLLECTION
All personal information submitted in relation to this Competition will be handled in accordance with the privacy policy of the Sponsor, which may be found at https://www2.deloitte.com/us/en/legal/privacy.html. Personal information will only be used in connection with the Competition and as provided for in these Official Rules.

CODE OF CONDUCT / HONOR CODE:
Professional behavior is expected at all times during the Competition and at Deloitte University. Each team is required to maintain the highest standards of integrity throughout the Competition. Any violation of the Official Rules or breaches of integrity will subject a participant to immediate disqualification. The disqualification of one team member will result in the entire team being disqualified.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for any lost, late, incomplete, inaccurate, stolen, misdirected, undelivered, delayed or garbled entries or email; or for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), ShareFile, website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or malfunctions of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, network typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Competition, including, without limitation, errors or malfunctions which may occur in connection with the administration of the Competition, the processing or judging of entries, the announcement of the awards or in any Competition-related materials.

Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Competition.
Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to participants’ or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in this Competition or downloading materials from or use of the any website. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the Competition, any website, as solely determined by Sponsor, will be disqualified.

Should any portion of the Competition be, in Sponsor’s sole opinion, compromised by virus, worms, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes, or in the event the Competition is unable to run as planned for any other reason, which, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play, or submission of entries or comments, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend, postpone or modify the Competition to address the impairment and resume the Competition in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules, or terminate the Competition and select the potential winners from all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to action taken.

Participants, by participating, agree that Deloitte LLP, Deloitte & Touche LLP, Deloitte Tax LLP, Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP, Deloitte Transactions and Business Analytics LLP, Deloitte Consulting LLP, Deloitte Services LP, Deloitte USA LLP, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (“DTTL”), and any and all DTTL associate and member firms, all of their respective past, present and future parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, divisions, related entities, joint venturers, subcontractors, agents, attorneys, insurers, benefit plans, fiduciaries, subrogees, co-insurers and reinsurers, all their respective past, present and future officers, directors, employees, members, partners, principals, shareholders and owners, and all their respective heirs, executors, administrators, personal representatives, predecessors, successors, transferees and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by participants against, any liability for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind, including death, to persons, or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of the prize(s) or participation in this Competition.

Each participant, by participating in the Competition, except where legally prohibited, grants permission to Sponsor and its designees to use their name, address (city and state), photograph, voice and/or other likeness and award information for advertising, trade and promotional purposes, in any manner, without further compensation, in all media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide, and on the Internet and world wide web, in perpetuity, without notice or review or approval.

In the event of a dispute regarding entries received from multiple users having the same e-mail account, the authorized subscriber of the e-mail account at the time of entry will be deemed to be the participant and must comply with these rules. Authorized account subscriber is the natural person who is assigned the e-mail address by the Internet Service Provider (ISP), on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses by or on behalf of the Sponsor or any Released Party or recognized by the Sponsor or any Released Party.

Governing Law/Disputes
By entering the Competition, participants agree that (i) any and all disputes shall be governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA to the extent permitted by law; (ii) any legal action or proceeding relating to the Competition shall be instituted in a state or federal court in New York City, New York, USA; (iii) they will submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of, and agree that venue is proper in, these courts in any such action or proceeding, to the extent permitted by law.
